The Joint Flood Taskforce Report on the Brisbane flood of 2011

The Joint Flood Taskforce has also released a report on the flood.  On factual matters, it largely confirms the SEQWater report where they overlap, but mostly it concentrates on determining an interim standard for flood levels for council planing.  I don't have much more to say about it at this time.

  1. TC - stopped by to see if you had any comments on the SLR study. From time to time I check the news to see if the Royal Commission has concluded anything.

Interestingly, back in Feb-Mar, I called the Oahe Dam (Missouri River in South Dakota) and spoke with an engineer about the Wivenhoe's situation. He had not heard about it at the time. While we were on the phone he took a look online and he was amazed by the dam events in Australia. But I wonder how amazed he is now?

  2. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what the SLR study is. Do you have a link?

The Royal Commission has published its interim report, of which the two most relevant sections to the comments I have made are the summary of weather and flood events and the section on dams. I have briefly read the later, and will probably post a comment at some time. Unfortunately for my blogging (and fortunately for my finances), I have a temporary job at the moment which does not leave me with much time or energy for blogging. Consequently my comments may not come out for a month or so.
